in the news: marni for h&m

November 30, 2011 in fashion, news by Lauren

The racks are barely clear of the Versace / H&M collaboration but the fast fashion retailer has just announced its next designer collaboration – Marni.

The collection is due to launch on 8 March in around 260 stores worldwide and online. I’m super excited because I love Marni’s vibrant yet classic designs and I can’t wait to see the full collection, which will feature full pleated skirts, dresses, cropped trousers and jacquard knit. There will also be a collection for the men.

Check out the video below for a sneak peek!

lusting for: lace and light dress

November 29, 2011 in fashion by Lauren

I can’t say no to a pretty Anthropologie dress and today I’m lusting for one with a bit of deja vu – doesn’t it look an awful lot like the Gathering Breeze Dress from spring?

The winter sister, known as the Lace and Light Dress, is a gorgeous concoction verging on gothic with its black lace, yet remaining thoroughly ladylike.

Unfortunately the price tag is as steep as the previous version – so I’m torn. Do I wait for sale again and risk missing out again? Sadly my bank balance says it’s a risk I’ll have to take!

The Lace and Light Dress is available from Anthropologie for $258 (it’s not currently available on the European site).

monday escape: address is approximate

November 28, 2011 in entertainment by Lauren

If you feel like you need a break from cold weather (and from deleting all those Cyber Monday emails from your inbox), perhaps the answer is escaping for some Pacific sun.

The below short film, Address is Approximate by The Theory, shows us how to do the next best thing. Like us, the lonely desk toy longs for escape from the dark confines of the office, so he takes a cross country road trip to the Pacific Coast in the only way he can – using a toy car and Google Maps Street View.

This is truly a fabulous film – check it out!

friday film: it’s time

November 25, 2011 in entertainment by Lauren

Regardless of your opinions on the subject, I’m sure you’ll agree this is a very smart short film (by Australian youth action group Get Up!)about a very divisive issue. I don’t generally like to get political here so I’ll leave you to make up your own thoughts. Enjoy and have a great weekend!

(almost) at the movies: W.E.

November 24, 2011 in movies by Lauren

W.E. will show us the other side of the story we saw in The King’s Speech – it focuses on the love story between Wallace Simpson and King Edward VIII (starring Andrea Riseborough and James D’Arcy).

The film is directed, written and producced by Madonna. It will be interesting to see how it turns out, particularly as the historic love story is spliced with a modern love story (starring Abbie Cornish).

W.E. will be released on 20 January 2012 in the UK and 3 February 2012 in the US.
