best dressed at the melbourne cup

Today’s Melbourne Cup may have been the race that stopped the nation but it was a thoroughly disappointing one for me. Not only did my horse finish just outside the money in fourth place, the fashions at the field also failed to hit the mark for me.
Admittedly it is a very wet and dreary day in Melbourne but most of the ladies trackside don’t look as though they really tried – where’s the glamour of our biggest horse race of the year?
My best dressed pick from the lack-lustre field goes to Miss Universe Australia 2009 Rachael Finch for her on-fashion purple ensemble. I can’t find out who the designer is at the moment but I’ll update if I get additional info.
Personally, I gave my favourite Sugar and Cream Dress from Anthropologie another outing and felt perfectly spring racing carnival appropriate (with the addition of a fascinator, of course). Hope your picks worked out for you!
