Festive window displays seem to be popping up all over town and if you’ve been looking at them thinking, “I could do better than that”, now’s your chance.
New York department store Bergdorf Goodman is famous for its holiday windows and this year, they’re giving us a chance to contribute our styling skills. The theme is vintage futurism, featuring 19th century space travel, Victorian aviation and the wonders of the Industrial Revolution.
The winning designer will receive a $2,500 Bergdorf Goodman gift card, an autographed copy of the new limited edition book Windows at Bergdorf Goodman by Linda Fargo and David Hoey, an invitation for two to the book signing and holiday window unveiling party at Bergdorf Goodman in New York City on Thursday 18 November and a private tour of the holiday windows by David Hoey on the night of the holiday window unveiling event.
Entries is only open to legal residents of the US (which is probably a good thing given travel to the unveiling party is not included in the prize) but that doesn’t mean you can’t still have fun if you live elsewhere. Take a look at the designs below for some inspiration and then head to Polyvore to create your display. Entries for the competition close Friday 12 November.
