festive = charitable at anthropologie

While cruising the Anthropologie website this morning looking for outfits for my work Christmas parties (one themed “glam” and the other “shine”), I noticed the clever folks at Anthro have added a charitable feature to the site.

Under each major category, there’s a link to their holiday book drive. Online customers can purchase a book that will be donated to Reader to Reader, a non-profit organisation that stocks the bookshelfs of the US’ neediest schools and public libraries.

If books aren’t your thing, you can also purchase a toy, which will be hand delivered to a local children’s hospital.

I plan to buy one of my childhood favourites, Anne of Green Gables, when I make my next purchase. Hopefully another little girl will fall in love with Anne’s adventures the same way I did and her holidays will be brighter because of it.

I think this is such a great initiative by Anthro – after all, who wouldn’t want to end up both looking good and feeling good from the same transaction!
