friday film: it gets better, love pixar

In September, author Dan Savage created a YouTube video with his partner Terry to tell young people facing harassment, in particular LGBT kids, that it does indeed get better.
Two months later, the It Gets Better Project has turned into a worldwide movement, inspiring over 5000 user-created videos and over 15 million views. The project has received submissions from celebrities, organisations, activists, politicians and media personalities, including President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Anne Hathaway, Colin Farrell, Ke$ha, Sarah Silverman, Ellen DeGeneres, the staffs of The Gap, Google and Facebook, and many more.
Now Pixar has made their own video of hope. I always cry in Pixar films (you should’ve seen me after Toy Story 3 – actually, it’s a good thing you didn’t!) and this one is no different.
Even as a straight teenager, I found high school to be pretty tough and thinking back on it now, I can assure anyone reading this that it’s true – it really does get better.
Tissues at the ready…
