best dressed at the 2011 SAG awards

Another week, another awards ceremony… today it’s the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards, which is the last big ceremony in the US before the Oscars.

Most of the winners were unsurprising – Natalie Portman took out best actress for Black Swan again, Colin Firth won best actor for The King’s Speech again, Boardwalk Empire took out the TV categories again… it was basically the Golden Globes all over again!

Fortunately the dresses weren’t as repetitive as the winners’ list, with some fresh and beautiful designs making their way down the red carpet. Below are my favourite trends from the evening.

Belted and Patterned: Two distinct trends that work so well together – especially on Claire Danes in Louis Vuitton and Mila Kunis in Alexander McQueen.

Lace: January Jones covered up more than she did at the Globes, and her lace look Carolina Herrera gown was elegant perfection.

Nude: Ok, this is an ongoing trend but many of the younger stars were rocking the look. Heather Morris from Glee worked it the best in my book wearing a bedazzled and feathered Romona Keveza.

White: Amy Adams, Winona Ryder and Lea Michele all rocked it but who could go past Natalie Portman and her baby bump looking elegant a bejeweled and strapless Azzaro gown? Too stylish!

It’s a tough call but my best dressed goes to the gorgeous Mila Kunis in her fiery Alexander McQueen, who narrowly beats Claire Danes is her ruffled and belted Louis Vuitton. Who is your pick for best dressed?
