eating out: anouk
April 26, 2010 in restaurants
I love a Sunday brunch with my friends but it’s even better if it’s actually a Monday brunch on a public holiday. This morning a group of us headed down to Anouk in Paddington and even with a group of six, we didn’t have to queue for longer than about 10 minutes.
Anouk makes fantastic coffee – the long blacks come out with a perfect crema and the cappuccinos have the coffee-milk-froth equation just right – but I’m also quite taken with their frozen fruit shakes. The lychee, lime and mint shake was deliciously refreshing and the jug we shared between us disappeared within a few minutes.
The menu changes relatively frequently but there’s also about five daily specials to liven up the mix. Today I enjoyed the breakfast fried rice while my friends indulged in a zucchini and mozzarella omelette, a mixed grill (featuring a rather rare lamb chop) and scrambled eggs. Everyone was happy with their meals and contentedly full afterwards. With drinks, the meal came to about $25 a head.

Where to find it: 212 Given Tce, Paddington
