in the news: the devil wears prada sequel is coming

I love The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger – I own the book in two languages and have seen the film adaption starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway more times than I can count – so I’m very excited by the news out of Camp Weisberger today.

The author and former Vogue assistant is in the process of writing a sequel to the novel, due out April 2013.

Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns picks up eight years after the original novel. According to Entertainment Weekly, Andy is now editing The Plunge, the hottest bridal magazine around, alongside Emily (yes, the former first assistant is now her BFF). While Andy is planning her own wedding to Max, a handsome media scion, she remains haunted by her impeccably heeled former boss — and the magazine world being as small as it is, it’s only a matter of time before she hears the dreaded syllables “Ahn-dre-ah!” again.

Are you as excited as I am to read the new novel? And can we dare to dream of a film sequel reuniting the original cast?

  • Oh I don’t know … I read the original book before the movie and honestly I didn’t find the book Andy very likeable. She seemed indifferent and lazy. The movie IMO was much better – though I never worked in fashion or had a boss like Miranda, I could relate to movie Andy. The prospect of a sequal (i.e., the prospect of an impending film sequal) kind of gives me the chills in a not-so-good way …

  • Where to start with this one! Seldom have I ever read a book that actually made my blood boil with rage, but this did it! I can, unfortunately, relate to the utter misery that Andy faces while at Runway, while my own clearly does not amount to her cataclysmic year of agony.
