eating out: patty and bun

We went to the cozy James Street location (there’s also one on Liverpool Street) for a casual Saturday lunch. We only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table, but I think we picked our time just right because the line was significantly longer when we went inside than it was when we joined it.
The restaurant itself is pleasantly casual. The walls are decorated with sharpie drawings on cardboard, while the brown paper place mats also serve as plates. But this is really a spot for a quick bite so the ambiance (while pleasant) is less important than the food.
I was really impressed with the Smokey Robinson burger (£8.50 – beef patty, cheese, tomato, lettuce, caramelised onions, bacon, ketchup, smokey P&B mayo on a brioche). In my book, this is exactly how a burger should be – mouth-wateringly juicy, great sauces and a perfect bun. My lunch companion took the special, which was pork-based with an amazing apple and red onion pickle. We shared a serve chips with rosemary salt (£2.75), which were crisp and not too greasy.
The only dark spot of the meal for me was the chicken wings (£5.50), which were lacking in flavour and felt like a bit of an afterthought on the menu. Fortunately, a burger and half a serve of chips was actually the perfect amount for me.

The good: The burgers – I loved the Smokey Robinson but all six options on the menu (including one vegetarian) looked amazing!
The bad: Those chicken wings. Stick to the burgers!
