in the news: stella gets olympic spirit
July 14, 2010 in fashion, news
Apparently Adidas will today announce that Stella McCartney has been selected to be creative director for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games British athletes’ uniforms. Adidas is the games’ official sportswear partner and McCartney has existing ties with the company through her Adidas by Stella McCartney line of women’s athletic clothing.
According to wwd.com, an Adidas spokeswoman said the new partnership between McCartney and the brand would run from now until the 2012 Olympics, and would feature four separate collections. First up will be a men’s and women’s lifestyle collection “inspired by Team GB” aimed at non-athletes and fans released in September through Adidas stores in the UK.
I’m a big fan of Stella’s athletic designs – including her outfits for tennis player Caroline Wozniacki – so I’m looking forward to seeing what she does for the motherland.
