in the news: anna della russo for h&m

May 3, 2012 in fashion, news

H&M has just announced its next collaboration – an accessories line with Vogue Japan Fashion Editor and all-round style icon Anna Della Russo.

The collection will feature jewelry, sunglasses, shoes, bags and a trolley, all featuring Della Russo unique and flamboyant style. Our first peek at the collection is the photo on the right, and the video below gives us a bit more of a look at the inspiration behind the collection (as well as a tour of Della Russo’s incredible apartment!)

The Anna Della Russo x H&M collection will be available in approximately 140 stores worldwide and online from 4 October 2012, timed to coincide with NY/London/Paris/Milan Fashion Weeks.

What do you think of the peek of the collection? Does anything strike your fancy so far?

friday film: oh! my bag!

March 9, 2012 in fashion

Here’s a fun film to wrap up the week. Longchamp has created a cute video campaign featuring model/Irish dancer Coco Rocha, model/ballerina Liisa Winkler and dancer/could-be-model Alexia Level.

The three break into spontanous dance in the streets of NYC, after realising they’re carrying the same bag (much more fun than ignoring each other all day as usually seems to be the case when women turn up wearing/carrying the same thing!)

Check it out below – it’s the perfect way to (high) kick off your weekend! Enjoy!

friday film: the woman dress

February 17, 2012 in fashion

Today’s film gives me the icks but I want to get your opinions on it. It’s latest campaign from Miu Miu and shows three witches making a dress… out of a woman.

The film introduces the pentagonal Culte sunglasses ($390) but truth be told, this does not make me want to buy them. At all.

Watch the clip (perhaps wait until the morning – it’s a bit creepy!) and let me know… does it make you want to buy sunglasses or does it just leave you wanting to rock in the corner?

gift idea #9: something for mum

December 9, 2011 in fashion

My mum reads this blog (hi Mum!) so I can’t tell you what I’ll actually be getting for her, but here’s an idea for your own mums.

A couple of year’s ago, my mother developed an allergy to costume jewelry (how convienient, right?) so now she has to wear real gold or silver. My budget doesn’t always stretch that far but I’ve discovered a cute alternative that doesn’t break the bank or make her break on in hives – ribbon.

Ribbon necklaces also have the added bonus of being colourful and fun, and some of the nicest designs I’ve seen this season are by Maneggi on Etsy.

Her ribbon pleats coupled with pearl beads are elegant yet different (right – $US28) and I know I would be more than happy to receive a ruffle ribbon and pearl necklace myself (US$26).

What are you getting your mum for Christmas?

gift idea #5: the smartphone addict

December 5, 2011 in fashion

Baby, it’s cold outside… but your smartphone addict can’t stop tapping away. I’ll admit the gadgets are cool, but I hate that you have to freeze your fingers off to make them work.

Fortunately there are now several glove options that have conductive thread in the fingers so that you don’t have to take them off to use the phone.

One of the best price/shipping/design options I’ve found is from SwypeGear. Unlike many of the other brands out there, these gloves have conductive thread in all ten fingers, meaning you can type on your iPad too.

SwypeGloves cost US$24.95 and shipping within the US is free (and it’s only $5 internationally!) At the moment, you can also get 20% off your order with the code 20OFF.
