friday film: fall arm candy

September 30, 2011 in fashion

Keeping with the fall accessories theme of this week, online retailer Net-A-Porter has put together a guide to the hottest trends in bags for the new season – and with five to choose from, there’s sure to be one you love.

Check out the clever clip below and find your new best friend (I think mine could be the minimalist Marni Perforated Leather Tote). What’s your favourite style?

in the news: blake for chanel

March 8, 2011 in fashion

Continuing the theme of hot young actresses spruiking luxury brands, today we got the preview of Blake Lively’s first ad for Chanel’s Mademoiselle handbag line.

I must say Blake is dressed a little more Blair than Serena in the ads but she obviously still looks amazing, and I love the way Kaiser Karl has worked the panelled mirror to perfection.

I particularly love that Blake’s hair has been given some subtle red highlights to help make the bag pop in the photo – that Lagerfeld really is a genius!

The campaign will start run in magazines from this week.

What do you think? Will you be rushing out to buy a Mademoiselle bag? I must say I would love to get my hands on this sexy little red number.

lusting for: book bags

January 27, 2011 in fashion

In early December, I fell madly in love with Olympia Le Tan’s book clutches, after seeing Natalie Portman carry the Lolita version to the Black Swan premiere.

Le Tan’s intricate reproductions of classic book covers are created using embroidered canvas and the results are truly stunning. While I was desperate to add A Streetcar Named Desire to my accessories drawer, the price was just too far out of my budget at 1087€.

Today while reading Goldenmeans’ blog, I was excited to see Kate Spade has released a newspaper clutch for $125 – but even more excited once I realised it was part of a greater collection that included book cover clutches at a (more) affordable price point!

Kate Spade’s collection is quite impressive – I’m enamoured with the Emma and Great Expectations clutches (both $325). For something a little more substantial, there are also totes available, including a gorgeous yellow The Great Gatsby version ($175).

If you’d like to get your own bookish style on, the collection is available at Kate Spade and Bloomingdale’s.

gift idea #9: something for mum

December 9, 2010 in fashion

I don’t know about your mother but mine is big on accessories – the woman’s shoe closet (yes, she really has one) would rival Imelda’s and she has the handbags to match! So, given today is her birthday (happy birthday Mum!), I thought I’d share a gift idea for the women who raised us.

Mums always seem to have everything you could possibly need in their handbags – tissues, antibacterial hand wash, several shades of lipstick, bandaids, those little disposable masks you use when you’re giving mouth-to-mouth to strangers… – but she can still have the world in your bag and be stylish at the same time.

Mimco has a fantastic range of spacious yet stylish bags and I think my mum would particularly love this Duke Day Bag in Armadillo. It normally costs AUD $499 but Mimco has 20% off storewide for a limited time, which brings it down to AUD $399.20. With its classic style, she’ll be stuffing her life into it for years to come.

Buy your mother (or yourself) one online or in Mimco or David Jones stores.

lusting for: mulberry for target

October 10, 2010 in fashion

We’ve already checked out the Stella McCartney for Target which launches on 29 October in Australia but the Mulberry for Target range has launched today in the US.

There are some fabulous picks, but personally I’m lusting for the Pebble Large Tote in Black. It’s only $49.99 so if you’re keen to grab your own, you’d better get in fast!

Chloe from See Chloe Shop has some great links if you’re looking for discounts so check those out too.

Happy shopping!
