Aussie fashion lovers, your dreams have come true! After the recent arrival of Topshop and Zara on antipodean shores, H&M has confirmed via Twitter that it will open its first Australian store in 2014.

There’s no confirmation of the location, but experts believe the scouts are currently out in force. My bets are on Sydney – what do you think?

fashion inspiration: gangster squad

February 17, 2013 in fashion

If it wasn’t for the risk to life, I’d sign up to be a 1940s gangster girl in a heartbeat – the clothes are fabulous! Here’s some tips for channeling your own underworld glam from the safety of your everyday life.

Elegant formalwear: Who doesn’t love that red dress Emma Stone is wearing in the Gangster Squad posters?

It’s not an exact match, but this Ann Taylor silk georgette dress ($365) is pretty close.

Belted day dresses: A 1940s classic, the belted day dress is sophisticated, stylish and – best of all – it works perfectly for today’s office.

Modcloth has some fantastic belted dresses in a range of prices. One of my favourites is the Networking for Me Dress ($129.99).

Furs: I know that can be controversial but they’re an essential part of a gangster girl’s look.

If you don’t like the idea of wearing fur, you can get a similar look with the Felicity Feather Bolero (£60) from Coast.

Sparkly accessories: Every gangster girl worth her salt needs some glamorous jewels and a great clutch. Grace Faraday certainly know how to work them.

Anthropologie’s Giltwork Pin-Fringe Clutch ($78) would add a touch of vintage glam to any outfit.

Pin your hair and you’re good to go!

Are you as excited about this upcoming launch as I am?

in the news: anne hathaway’s wedding dress

October 4, 2012 in fashion

Congratulations to the gorgeous Anne Hathaway and Adam Schulman, who married in Big Sur on Saturday.

We don’t have any official photos of the happy couple yet, but Valentino has released a sketch of the wedding dress – and it’s divine (those paparazzi shots don’t do it justice!)

According to People magazine, a rep for Valentino said the design team created a strapless ivory silk point d’esprit tulle dress, which includes a pink hand-painted shaded train embroidered with satin flowers. The 1920s-inspired veil consists of a lace ribbon with a large flower, adorned with small crystal beads.

I have to say I’m a big fan of the romantic look for Anne. What do you think?

friday film: it’s getting late

August 30, 2012 in fashion

The most recent short film in Miu Miu’s Woman Tales series premiered tonight at the Venice Film Festival – so please excuse me for being a bit early with this week’s Friday film but I couldn’t wait to share it with you!

Directed by Iranian-American screenwriter and director, Massy Tadjedin, It’s Getting Late features an incredible cast – Parks and Recreation‘s Aubrey Plaza, former Bond-girl Gemma Arterton, Friends with Benefits‘ Patricia Clarkson and Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi. The film shows these four different women getting ready in their own way for a night out to hear Zola Jesus sing (I’ll admit I’d never heard of her before this film – but she’s amazing!)

It’s Getting Late is definitely my favourite film in Miu Miu’s series so far (remember the creepy Woman Dress one? No competition!) What do you think?
