Aussie fashion lovers, your dreams have come true! After the recent arrival of Topshop and Zara on antipodean shores, H&M has confirmed via Twitter that it will open its first Australian store in 2014.

There’s no confirmation of the location, but experts believe the scouts are currently out in force. My bets are on Sydney – what do you think?

in the news: anne hathaway’s wedding dress

October 4, 2012 in fashion

Congratulations to the gorgeous Anne Hathaway and Adam Schulman, who married in Big Sur on Saturday.

We don’t have any official photos of the happy couple yet, but Valentino has released a sketch of the wedding dress – and it’s divine (those paparazzi shots don’t do it justice!)

According to People magazine, a rep for Valentino said the design team created a strapless ivory silk point d’esprit tulle dress, which includes a pink hand-painted shaded train embroidered with satin flowers. The 1920s-inspired veil consists of a lace ribbon with a large flower, adorned with small crystal beads.

I have to say I’m a big fan of the romantic look for Anne. What do you think?

Even Gossip Girl didn’t know about this weekend’s biggest secret – Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds got hitched!

While no photos have emerged yet (apparently Martha Stewart Wedding will have the exclusive in the December issue), we have heard that the bride wore a Marchesa couture bridal ball gown with a hand-draped silk tulle bodice adorned with crystal and rose gold embroidery.

Apparently the bridesmaids wore blush silk chiffon gowns with crystal embroidered detail, also by Marchesa, and all the ladies wore shoes from Christian Louboutin (no surprises there!)

Rumour has it that Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine) entertained the guests at the reception in Boone Hall Plantation in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Sounds like a pretty rocking party!

We’ll let you know when photos emerge. For now, congratulations to the happy couple!

in the news: miss wu by jason wu

July 18, 2012 in fashion, news

After the success of Jason Wu’s collection for Target earlier this year, the designer has decided to launch a contemporary line called Miss Wu.

The ready-to-wear collection will be created in collaboration with US department store Nordstrom, which has a one-year exclusive on the new brand for the first year. A global launch is expected after the exclusive ends.

“Instead of just doing ‘Jason Wu-for-less,’ the idea is to explore the other side of myself,” Wu told WWD. “I always see Jason Wu as my aesthetic, my design sensibility. Miss Wu is my personality. It was really fun to explore that facet of who I am – slightly more downtown, and with a more relaxed attitude.”

The 40-piece Mod-inspired collection will be available in Nordstrom from January, with prices starting at $195.

What do you think about the new Miss Wu line?

in the news: the devil wears prada sequel is coming

May 31, 2012 in entertainment

I love The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger – I own the book in two languages and have seen the film adaption starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway more times than I can count – so I’m very excited by the news out of Camp Weisberger today.

The author and former Vogue assistant is in the process of writing a sequel to the novel, due out April 2013.

Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns picks up eight years after the original novel. According to Entertainment Weekly, Andy is now editing The Plunge, the hottest bridal magazine around, alongside Emily (yes, the former first assistant is now her BFF). While Andy is planning her own wedding to Max, a handsome media scion, she remains haunted by her impeccably heeled former boss — and the magazine world being as small as it is, it’s only a matter of time before she hears the dreaded syllables “Ahn-dre-ah!” again.

Are you as excited as I am to read the new novel? And can we dare to dream of a film sequel reuniting the original cast?
