in the news: vogue paris now in english

April 17, 2012 in news

If you don’t speak French but you love the style of Vogue Paris, you’re in luck!

My local edition of the Vogue imprint has just launched a new website in English so you can get your news directly from the French fashion capital without using a translator.

I wonder whether this will remove some of the allure of the French title, given it maintained a certain je ne sais quoi from being only accessible to those who spoke the language of love.

Perhaps the Voguettes thought about this, because the English site features only a selection of handpicked editorials, with users still needing to go to the French site to get the full story.

Will you check out the English site for Vogue Paris?

friday film: parisian chic

July 15, 2011 in fashion

Yesterday was Bastille Day so let’s get into the French spirit with today’s Friday film.

Inès de la Fressange was a supermodel in the 80s, muse to Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel and was voted Parisian woman of the year, despite initially hailing from the south of France!

Check out the video below for a few tips and then pick up her new book, Parisian Chic: A Style Guide by Ines de la Fressange. Très chic!

lusting for: self-designed repetto

April 13, 2011 in fashion

One of the places I’m most looking forward to visiting when I go to Paris this weekend is Galeries Lafayette.

The famous department store with its stunning glass dome was my second home when I was studying in the city. Being a poor uni student, I could only indulge in more window shopping – or “window licking” as the French call it – so I’m looking forward to the opportunity to splash out a little when I return.

One concession store I’ll be sure to visit is the Repetto store.

Repetto is one of those iconic French brands - Brigitte Bardot famously wore a pair of their red ballerina flats, while Kate Moss prefers hers in black.

Until 23 April, you have the chance to create your own signature pair of ballerinas at the Repetto Workshop within Galeries Lafayette and with over 250 leather colours to choose from, there’s sure to be a creation that’s perfectly “you”.

Rumour is the self-designed pairs of ballerinas cost €252 but I’ll be able to confirm that after my visit.

lusting for: colette’s shoes

April 11, 2011 in fashion

I’m going to Paris this weekend and I’m so excited to get the chance to visit one of my favourite concept stores in person.

Colette is right in the heart of Paris’ luxury district on Rue Saint-Honoré and houses an amazing selection of clothing, accessories, books, art and a “water bar”, where you can choose from over 100 different types of mineral water.

One of the things I’m most looking forward to checking out is the shoe collection, which is always incredible.

At the moment, my favourite pair would have to be these pumps by Nicholas Kirkwood. They’re made from woven cotton and flax – and isn’t the colour just divine?

Sadly I’ll just be window shopping because this pair would set me back €495 (that’s US $596.03).

If you love this pair as much as I do but you’re not planning to be in Paris any time soon, you can check them out through Colette’s online store.

in the news: emma watson for lancome

March 16, 2011 in fashion

It appears the gorgeous Ms Watson is unstoppable!

Following on from her collaboration with Alberta Ferretti, she was on Monday officially named the newest face of Lancome (where her stablemates include Julia Roberts and Anne Hathaway).

Watson got straight on the job, shooting her first campaign with famed photographer Mario Testino at Cafe de Flore on Monday and the famous Shakespeare and Co. bookstore in Paris yesterday. Some photos have already leaked (the one shown is from yesterday’s shoot – see more at Stylelist) and I must say Emma is working the masculine-femme look to perfection.

Her peach smoking jacket and white lace shorts coupled with a plain white shirt and black necktie is at once classic and edgy. In my opinion, the make up takes a back seat to the fashion here – oops!

Of course, it could be a fragrance campaign if Lancome is trying to join the perfume battle for our young lady dollars. It kind of looks like it might be, doesn’t it? Stay tuned…
