lusting for: louboutin’s glass slipper

July 10, 2012 in fashion

I’ve been having a bit of a Cinderella moment lately. No, I haven’t been dropping shoes all over town, but I have just finished reading Cinder by Marissa Meyer (an intriguing summer read, if you’re looking for one) and now Christian Louboutin has unveiled his long awaited interpretation of the famous glass slipper.

The release of the design (right) is in celebration of the re-launch of Disney’s Cinderella on Blu-ray and DVD.

The slippers themselves features heels covered in crystals, shimmering butterfly embellishments, and (of course) Louboutin’s signature red soles.

While the shoe itself will not be available in Louboutin stores, 20 pairs will be given away as part of a worldwide giveaway. For your chance to be a princess, keep your eyes open on 17 August, when Louboutin and Walt Disney will release details of the giveaway (Prince Charming not included).

lusting for: the outnet clearance

March 13, 2012 in fashion

I love a good sale and for the next seven days, The Outnet is having a fabulous one!

It’s a good chance to pick up some great quality wardrobe staples for a reasonable price, as well as pick up some trend pieces for pennies (well, close enough).

One of my favourite finds are these gorgeous teal Kella suede peep-toe ankle boots by Calvin Klein. They’re down from €563.92 to €90.01, offering a whopping 85% saving.

The Outnet ships internationally for a maximum cost of £16.50. With even international delivery in 2-3 days, you could have a great new designer outfit for this weekend!

(almost) at the movies: god save my shoes

August 9, 2011 in movies

I love a good fashion documentary and I can’t wait to see the latest addition to the genre, God Save My Shoes.

The documentary explores “the intimate relationship between women and their shoes — from a psychological, sociocultural and erotic perspective” and features the biggest names in footwear including Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik and Pierre Hardy.

God Save My Shoes will premiere in Paris on 29 September and air on French TV Canal Plus on 4 October. American and international releases are still in the works but I’ll update this post if I hear any updates (the current word is it may be released in the US by November).

lusting for: bookbinder heels

July 6, 2011 in fashion

I have been lusting for the Bookbinder Heels since they popped up on the Anthropologie website last week.

They’re gorgeous, practical and combine my love of shoes and books in one stylish accessory that’s work-appropriate but still fun.

Roxy has already reviewed them over on Effortless Anthropologie and you can be sure I’ll stop into the shoe boutique next time I’m in London to try them out for myself!

The Bookbinder Heels are available from Anthropologie and cost $168 in the US or €163 in Europe.

in the news: louboutin’s lookbook

June 23, 2011 in fashion

The last time I wrote about Louboutin, it triggered a very strong reaction from readers – for all the wrong reasons.

This week, Louboutin has released his fall lookbook and its photos (taken by Peter Lippman) are quite spectacular. The images are inspired by iconic paintings that have been reworked to include shoes from the upcoming season.

You can check out all the photos via Fashionista - but be warned that photo number six is NSFW. Personally, my favourite shot is Whistler’s Mother holding the Tootsie bootie (right).

What do you think of the lookbook? Does it make you forget Louboutin’s earlier comments or are you still anti-red sole?
